Study the picture above well Crickets, and meet Ashland Villager #23. Without your help, this NPC will receive a generic name and a standard line when you arrive to their region during your upcoming adventures. We want YOU to make #23 memorable by giving him a new destiny! The choice is yours Crickets—NAME this NPC and give him ONE LINE to say.
To inspire your creativity, here's the scene: In the upcoming Ashland Village update, a quest involves rescuing villagers, all currently named "Villager." We want the community to leave its mark on #23. While we won’t reveal too much about the quest, we can tell you that urgency fills the village. Here are some of the lines spoken by his fellow villagers:
“Please, save me!”
“Get us out of here!”
“Help! Please!”
“I don't want to die alone!”
Sounds pretty dangerous right? We hope the Hongmoon Warriors can save these villagers, and we hope these lines help you build #23's personality a little more!
How to Participate
We will be hosting the contest through our official Blade & Soul Discord. Everyone can post one name and one line only in the Discord channels "#name-that-npc" and “#line-for-npc”. After two rounds of voting, the winning name and line will be added to our localization documents and the NPC will carry that name and say the line in-game! Now is your chance to make a direct impact! See the details below.
Step One - Beginning Submissions: October 3 – October 6
• Please make one NPC name submission in the #name-that-npc Discord channel.
• Please make one NPC line submission in the #line-for-npc Discord channel. • Please post one name and one line only. That is one suggestion per human.
• Our team will also remove all suggestions that do not follow rules at the end of this round.
Step Two - Voting Round 1: October 7 – October 9
Emoji Reactions will be locked until this stage of the contest. Starting October 7th, you must browse through the finalized list of names and lines in their respective channels and leave 1 heart emoji ❤️ reaction on your favorite submission. Please post one heart only on one name and one line. The top three names and top three lines with the most emojis will go on to the final Top 3 Round.
Step Three - Top 3 Voting Period: October 10 – October 11
The Top 3 names and lines will be posted as a Discord Poll in #b&s-news, and you must make place your final vote! Again, only one vote per human please!
Step Four - Winner Announced: October 14
Rules
Overall, you are allowed to be funny, smart, or creative in this contest but you must make all suggestions work within the Blade & Soul universe. Have fun but protect the lore and story of the game. This means your suggestions should NOT be inappropriate, over-the-top, or be based on real life influences. Please follow some more specific rules below:
1. Your suggestions should not be based off people, events, etc. that you wouldn’t see in the Earthen Realm of Blade & Soul. We want everyone to have fun, but we still need our NPC to feel relatively at home within reason in the world of B&S. More examples of what you should avoid are celebrities, historical figures, trademarks / brands, other video game characters, etc.
2. Please do NOT make any inappropriate / suggestive submissions.
3. Names can be simple, like Bob, or very complex / creative (maximum 20 characters including spaces). Lines should be short (maximum 7 words) and exclamatory! Please use the other NPC lines above for reference.
4. Names should NOT be region, faction, or class specific. This character is to be enjoyed by everyone!
5. Try to make sure the name is not already an existing NPC’s name.
6. *If the community somehow gets past all these well-intentioned rules with an inappropriate name or line, we reserve the right to bring the Dark Lord’s fury down upon all and choose a different one that is better suited for B&S. 😈😘
